This is according to Drs. Frawley and Lad in their book, \u201cYoga of Herbs.\u201d The herb is named for its ability to destroy or carry away disease. Haritaki harmonizes the entire system, bringing it back into constitutional balance by removing metabolic toxins (called mala in Ayurveda.) This herb helps regulate the colon, correcting both constipation and diarrhea. It improves digestion and absorption, checks excessive discharges (anywhere in the body,) feeds the brain and nervous system, promotes the voice, improves vision, aids in longevity, and helps raise prolapsed organs. Energetically and emotionally Haritaki is used to promote a sense of wellbeing.
